The idea

Initially inspired by Charles Linster, I decided to start a site/club for people doing pushups - specifically, for doing 1000 push ups. Why 1000 you ask?

Well, I'll tell ya. Anybody, after some practicing and a few months, can do 100 push ups. But not everybody can do 1000. One thousand push ups represents commitment, dedication, and stamina, all things I'm trying to improve in my persona. Secondly, I can't imagine being able to do 1000 push ups and not being fit. Thirdly, it's pretty impressive to tell people that you can do 1000 continuous push ups.

So this site is now the home of the 1000 push up club. Join me if you like. The club is about the commitment to do 1000 pushups a day. It'll be the struggle to get there, along with the small victories, that will keep us going.

Here's to 1000 pushups!

Hey! 1000 push-ups continuously? That is serious commitment. My max is somewhere under 100 ;) Good luck on your goal. Great site.

Thanks!

Just to be clear though, I have TWO separate goals. The first goal is to do 1000 push ups in one day - in any way, shape or form.

Goal 2: after I've done goal one for a while, then I'd like to be able to do 1000 push ups continuously. :)

Baby steps...

1000 in 1 day is not that bad...1000 non stop ok thats is different....Joohn rhee (martial artist) does 100 in 60 secs and has been doing 1000 per day for years.

I stopped doing regular pushups. I do 50 pushups inclined and then 2 more sets of 30 to develop the upper part of my chest. Am i right or wrong ?

Catchy idea. I never would have thought of it. Can this be done? Are there documented cases of people actually doing 1,000 continuous push-ups? If so, I'm going to try it to see how far I can get. There's no question that the push-up is a fabulous exercise.

So first things first:

Ollie, yes, it has been documented that people can do 1000 continuous push ups. In fact, the world record is a little over 10,000 continuous push ups!! crazy! anyway...so I just want to do a 10th of that.

Googler - I think you have a great plan to hit the different aspects of the pectoralis. Variety is always good when doing push ups, especially if you're aiming for 1000.

I just bought the push up pro ... my most pressing goal is 100 by Dec 21st, so I got the handles to see if they would accelerate my push ups. I'll post once I've used them for a week or so!

my max (continuously) is only around 60 right now... how long (with plenty of hard work each day) do you think it would take on average to reach just 500 (continuously)??
